Child Care Provider Program: Training for Family Day Homes and Licensed Facilities
One of the newest publications from Texas Cooperative Extension is a self-study manual for childcare providers entitled Child Care Provider Program: Training for Family Day Homes and Licensed Facilities. By completing this course of self-study, childcare providers can earn up to 36 clock hours to meet the annual qualification standards established by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services.
This manual provides information on children from birth through age 12. Such areas as child development, nutrition, health and safety are discussed. There is also one chapter devoted to business issues encountered in managing a childcare facility.
This one manual will meet the licensing requirements of childcare providers in the county for one year. The manual can be purchased for $50 through the Comal County Extension office, located at 132 South Water Lane in New Braunfels. To receive credit for clock hours, childcare providers will study the manual and then take a test which will be set up by their county Extension agent. Upon receiving a passing score on the test, childcare providers will receive a certificate listing their clock hours.
