Wildlife Conservation Camp July 8-14, 2001 Welder Wildlife Foundation and Refuge Sinton, Texas   A camp designed to introduce student to wildlife conservation and management.  The camp focuses on outdoor, hands-on activities, with presentations by wildlife professionals.  Topics will include conservation ethics, species diversity, habitat              management, population ecology, predator-prey interactions, capture and census techniques, bird & plant identification, hunting as a management tool, hunter safety and shooting skills.  Students especially enjoy the opportunity to interact with wildlife professionals in a variety of wildlife and conservation fields.  Students considering careers in wildlife or natural sciences are strongly encourages to attend!   For more information on registration and cost, please contact us at: 830-683-4310

ENTRY FEES: $30 flat fee for 1-4 qualifying classes (exhibitor may enter maximum of 4) - $10.00 per Open class entered by exhibitor (may enter one or more - no limit)   STALLS: Cost:  $15 regardless of number of hours used.  Submit fees with county entries by May 25th.  Stalls will be available beginning 6:00 pm on Wednesday and must be totally vacated at the conclusion of the show.  Exhibitor information cards will be required for each stall in use.  Emergency contact number must be included on stall card for any horse that will remain on the grounds over-night.  Shavings will not be available for sale.  Exhibitors should bring their own.   FYI: Rules Clarifications and Added Events - questions regarding the conduct of the show will be referred immediately to the Superintendent.  The Superintendent will confer with other show officials or judges, if necessary, and give an on-the-spot decision that shall be accepted as final.

OWNERSHIP & REGISTRATION Horse papers must reflect ownership  by 4-H member, their parents, bother, sister or guardian.  Exhibitors of registered horse/s must have registration papers in their possession at the show for review by show officials if requested.  Exhibitors of grade horse/s must have an approved Grade Horse Identification & Certification Form (Texas 4-H Horse Project) in their possession at the show.   HORSE HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: All equine, regardless of origin, entering the District 4-H Horse Show must have a negative test for EIA conducted within the previous 12 months.  Horses are also required to have had a negative EIA test within the past 12 months if they undergo any change of ownership.  The TAHC can show up at any activity and require some or all owners to produce appropriate paperwork.     IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ENTERING THE DISTRICT 4-H HORSE SHOW, PLEASE CONTACT OUR OFFICE.

Schlitterbahn Waterpark is proud to salute all Texas 4-H Clubs from Sunday, June 10 through Friday, June 22, 2001.  Every year Schlitterbahn is host to hundreds of 4-H members.  To show their appreciation for your patronage, they are offering a special promotion to Texas 4-H club members and their families.  The promotion includes admission to the waterpark at more than 30% discount off our regular gate prices.   An advance reservation with a minimum order of 5 tickets and proof of membership are required for all orders.  Proof of membership includes one of the following:  a copy of your membership card or your group's tax-exempt certificate.  For your tickets to be mailed, orders must be prepaid and postmarked 15 days prior to your visit.  All other reserved orders can be paid for and picked up at any Schlitterbahn entrance on the day of your visit.     If you are interested in getting a group together, we have the order forms available in our office.  If you need more information concerning this special offer, please don't hesitate to call and ask us here at the Extension Office.  830-683-4310.

WE WILL AGAIN HOST COUNTY CAMP WITH KIMBLE, REAL, AND KINNEY COUNTIES ON MAY 29-31.  THE COST WILL BE $35 PER PERSON PAYABLE AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION.  PLEASE FILL OUT THE REGISTRATION FORM ABOVE AND RETURN TO THE OFFICE BY MAY 21ST.  WE ALSO NEED SOME PARENTS TO ASSIST IN CHAPERONING.   BRING ALONG A FRIEND AND COME JOIN IN THE FUN.

2001 CYBER CAMP JUNE 24-29, 2001 GEORGE & OPAL BENTLEY 4-H CENTER   The objective of the week-long event is to help youth throughout the state become aware of the many career opportunities and adventures in the technology field.  The camp emphasizes hand-on group project work.  While the camp focuses on computer skills and competencies beyond what is taught in school, time is made available for recreation.   This year the committee is inviting sixteen boys and sixteen girls from across the sate to attend camp.  Participants must be in the 7th grade through the 12th grade and have an interest in computers and be willing to participate as a team member during the week long camp.  The campers will be divided into three groups of different learning skills.   This is also an excellent opportunity for Teachers and Volunteers to learn more about computers.  Four adults will be recruited to participate.  They will also serve as cabin directors and councilors.   Applications are available in our office and can be obtained by calling us @ 830-683-4310 or coming by. DEADLINE TO HAVE APPLICATIONS IN OUR OFFICE IS MAY 21, 2001   Cost of the camp will be $165.00 and will include meals and lodging.  In case of cancellations, refunds will be offered in full before Tuesday, June 19, 2001.  After that date the payment is non-refundable.
