Edwards County has long been recognized as one of the top destinations to hunt white-tailed deer in Texas!  Other abundant native game species include Rio Grande Turkey and Javelina.  And hunting isn't limited to native game, as many ranches have stocked various types of exotic game animals from around the world.      
 
Monarch butterflies visit Edwards County every year on their annual migration to Mexico for the winter.  The state natural area and several privately owned ranches allow bird- watchers to visit.  Colorful painted buntings,summer tannagers, Baltimore orioles, a number of hummingbird species, and vermilion flycatchers are sure to catch the fancy of any avian enthusiast.
