Dr. Joe PaschalDr. Joe C. Paschal is a member of the Animal Breeding and Genetics Section and the Graduate Faculty of the Department of Animal Science. He is also an External member of Graduate Faculty at Texas A & M University-Kingsville.  He earned his bachelor and master degrees in Animal Science (Ruminant Nutrition) and his doctorate in Animal Breeding and Genetics from Texas A&M University.   His interests include animal breeding and genetics (including molecular genetics), production risk management, public policy issues affecting animal agriculture and integrated resource management.

Dr. Paschal is responsible for the American Brahman Breeders Association Carcass Merit Project, the Santa Gertrudis Breeders International National Steer Feedout Project,  and is an advisor to the Jim Wells County and Rio Grande Valley Beef Cattle Improvement Associations Bull Gain and Heifer Development Programs.  He also works closely with County Extension Agents in planning, conducting and evaluating educational programs in District 9, District 11 and District 12.   

Dr. Paschal has received numerous awards for his Extension work from Texas Cooperative Extension and beef cattle organizations including the American Brahman Breeders Association Brahman Friend of the Year Award (2003).  Dr. Paschal serves on the breed improvement committees for the American Brahman Breeders Association and the Santa Gertrudis Breeders International.
