PECAN SHOW SCHEDULED

Our Victoria County Pecan Show will be held November 30 - December 1, 1999 at the Trinity Lutheran church Luther Hall, 106 N. DeLeon at Constitution St. (Downtown). Make plans to come. (See the enclosed rules). Please look at the show schedule and come and help us process pecans Tuesday evening.

Entries are due at the Victoria County Extension office by Wednesday, November 24, 1999 (the day before Thanksgiving). We should have a good show if everybody brings a couple of entries.

Our Victoria County Master Gardeners will be attending our County Pecan Show again this year. This is an excellent training for them so please welcome them and show your support. There will be 24 Master Gardeners attending - a large class!

PECAN GROWER'S NOON MEAL

President Howard Spies and others are really planning another good "feed". At $3.00 per person, I know you can not get a cheaper meal in town. It is for our Pecan Growers and the public to attend. Our Pecan Growers' Association will have a short meeting during the meal. If you plan to attend the Noon luncheon please call the Victoria County Extension office at 361-575-4581 by Wednesday November 24th. Immediately following will be the results of our County Pecan Show and then our 4-hour Fruit & Nut Seminar.

FRUIT & NUT PRODUCTION SEMINAR

It's not often we have a four hour production seminar on Fruit & Nut Production. It is coordinated to be held with our 1999 Pecan Show. And the notorious Dr. George Ray McEachern, Extension Horticulturist will be our speaker. Program starts at 1:00 p.m. December 1st.

This should be a detailed presentation on all aspects of the major and a few minor fruit & nut varieties. It will go through planting techniques, varieties, management, pest problems, etc. And of course you will have the Louisianian humor of George. The seminar will be worth 2 hours of CEU's, 1 hour IPM and 1 hour General.
