Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center Go eye-to-eye with some of the largest, largemouth bass in the world or gaze into the eyes of an American Alligator in its natural environment. You can even fish to your heart's content at the 1.5 acre casting pond stocked with rainbow trout or channel catfish. Henderson County Fair Park Complex Welcome to the official web site of the Henderson County, Texas Fair Park Complex. Located just 3 miles east of downtown Athens, Texas on Highway 31. The complex, located on 28 1/2 acres, consists of a covered main coliseum, a second covered arena (J D Lewis Arena), multi-purpose building, three barns and an outdoor arena. The main coliseum seats 4,500 with concession stands and restrooms located on both sides. The JD Lewis Arena seat approximately 400. East Texas Arboretum This special 100 acres of native land will be preserved for generation to come. School children can come and learn about the beauty and ecological importance of America's native flora. People from all walks of life can enjoy trees and plants preserved in their native habitat. We can all learn to become a source of inspiration and guidance for still others who can help preserve our priceless natural heritage. Related Organizations Henderson County Master Gardeners Henderson County Master Gardeners are members of the local community who take an active interest in their lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers and gardens. They are enthusiastic, willing to learn and to help others, and able to communicate with diverse groups of people. What really sets Master Gardeners apart from other home gardeners is their special training in horticulture. In exchange for their training, persons who become Master Gardeners contribute time as volunteers, working through their cooperative Extension office to provide horticultural-related information to their communities. Horticulture Department - TVCC Trinity Valley Community College was one of only a handful of colleges and universities honored for excellence in the instruction of horticulture by the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (N.A.S.D.A.). The TVCC Department of Horticulture is proud of its state-of-the-art greenhouse facilities, which also include modern classrooms, computer facilities, and drafting/design labs. Television. For more than two decades, Horace McQueen woke
up East Texans with the latest agricultural news and weather
reports. Now the torch is being passed to the next
generation. With Horace's retirement, Extension Agent Rick Hirsch is now the
host of Farm And Ranch News. Rick knows agriculture. And he
knows East Texas. A graduate of Texas A&M, Rick is now
the Agriculture Extension Agent in Henderson County. He is
married with three children. Join Rick and Weatherman Eric Sorensen every
weekday morning for 'Farm and Ranch News', featured on
"East Texas Daybreak" from 6 - 7am. And remember,
