
- An active member of 4-H during the 2003-2004 4-H year
- Texas resident and graduated from a Texas High School (Public, Private, Homeschool, etc.)
- Accepted and enrolled at a Texas College or University
- Applications should be limited to the space allowed. If you will notice on page 3 of the instructions, the page designations are listed. With the exception of the page completed by the high school and the page completed by the county agent, letters of recommendation are not considered.
- There is not a specific format. Try several formats and determine the one that will be the easiest to read and understand. Equally important is a format that will best reflect what you have accomplished and what you have gained from your experiences.
- Scholarships are judged on information received in compliance with deadlines that are published. Contact your school counselor to see if scores may be expedited.
- Not at this time. Paper originals must be signed and submitted through the county office.
- No. All applications must be submitted through the county office and signed by the county Extension agent.
- Most of the donors do not limit consideration for their scholarships based on the type of high school attended. One of our donors currently restricts their scholarships to public school students.
- Applications from homeschooled students are accepted and considered. We established the guidelines to reflect requirements by Texas colleges and universities.
an official transcript and proof of completing the TASP test, or a GED certificate, or proof of TASP test exemption. The following qualifications must be met for exemption from the TASP test: Minimum ACT test score of 23, with 19 on English and 19 on math. Minimum SAT test score of 1070, with 500 on verbal and 500 on math.- Homeschooled students must provide:
- Participation in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo or the San Antonio Livestock Exposition is not required to be considered for a scholarship. The only donor requiring participation in their show to be elibible for their scholarship is the Ft. Worth Stock Show.
- No. Completion of the Scholarship Application form may borrow from information accumulated by 4-H members through the 4-H Recordbook competition; however, it is not a requirement.
- No. However, you may not apply for both a Texas FFA Association scholarship and a Texas 4-H Foundation Scholarship.
- Yes. However, if you are selected for a 4-H scholarship of greater value funded by either the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo or any other livestock exposition, the Go-Texan scholarship will be canceled automatically in favor of the Texas 4-H Foundation Scholarship.
- In their bulletins and catalogues colleges and Universities publish minimum standards for admission to their institution. Please list these minimum standards.
- Please list all scholarships and loans for which you applied. Tell us if the status is pending, confirmed or rejected. List all information you have on those for which you applied.
- Except for a very small portion of our scholarships, there is no preference for college or university you plan to attend as long as it is within the state of Texas.
- There is no priority treatment, either at the county, district or state level for any elected positions.
- You are not automatically penalized for having cash and/or savings set aside for college - it often indicates planning for the future. Conversely a scholar may be penalized for having no funds set aside for college if the financial needs judges determine that their family income could have allowed for a college fund. The financial needs judges also understand that not all family situations allow for setting aside funds for college.
- You are responsible for deciding what major you wish to pursue. As with many decisions you make in your life, there may be consequences. A consequence for choice of college major may be that you are ineligible for some 4-H Foundation scholarships. However, there are some 4-H Foundation scholarships that are unrestricted to college major.
