4-H is the youth development program of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service of the Texas A&M University System and cooperating counties. The 4-H mission is to offer participants opportunities to acquire knowledge, develop skills and form attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive, and contributing members of society. 4-H is open to all children aged 9 to 18 regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, religion, disability, or national origin.

4-H helps young people learn how to do new and interesting things through learn-by-doing projects. Organized 4-H clubs serve youth ages 9 (or age 8 and in the 3rd grade) to age 18. 4-H is educational and offers learning experiences in 84 subject matter areas. There are over 5,700 youth enrolled in organized 4-H clubs, curriculum enrichment programs, and special interest projects in McLennan County. If you are interested in joining a 4-H club or starting a club in your community, call Texas AgriLife Extension Service in McLennan County at 254-757-5180 or e-mail mclennan@ag.tamu.edu
